I have used the technique of braiding and and tried to create an accessory that shows the flow of energy. Here the falling braids represent the flow of energy that is Shakti and is represented by earth colours, that is the colours of nature and earth and the part that holds the braids together os represented by Shiva by the colour of ashes.
This is an abstract representation of lingam and yoni where Shiva is the central still point and Shakti is the turning wheel.
The application form still needs some refinement and more iterations.

These are a few experimental samples to show how the woven sample using silk, cotton and merino wool yarn looks after weaving and boiling.

As the weave is a bit loose the felting has happened on a very low scale. A few more experiments will be needed to try out the felting.

The shoe shows the application for the woven material.

The concept behind]d the shoe is to show the start point of the garment from the base representing the core of the earth.

The duality is brought out using yarn like wool and cotton which a complete opposite in nature but are woven into oneness.

the duality also comes from the weaves chosen to represent the masculinity and feminity. The treatment of boiling also comes from the dual elements of water and fire.

Process of creating iterations and explorations for the final head gear that will be a representation of Sun and the phases of Moon. The sun represents Shiva which is the binding force, the one that is powerful, the who is the beholder of Shakti and Shakti is represented by the constant changing manifestations of the moon. Together they nurture the universe.

When the master falls asleep, the mistress remains awake to the world and performs the roles of both.

Seminar 2 - 8th August

Feedback Seminar 2

  1. All the mind maps should be converted as digital maps.
  2. Need to work on creating the final look and feel for fabric.
  3. Experiment with material and technique.
  4. Present explorations are literal.
  5. Need to go to a deeper abstract level of understanding and make the explorations more experiential and experimental.

Next Steps.

  • Rework on mood boards : go deeper with the thought process.
  • Design the look for each form of the piece to be made.(what techniques and material will go with what)
  • Start experiment and exploration of samples.
